Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs in the Asian Games women’s cricket bronze-medal match in Nisshin on Tuesday.
Pakistan women won the bronze medal at the Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi, Japan, on September 22.
Pakistan batted first and scored 145 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana led the batting effort with 45 runs off 30 balls. Her innings included three fours and three sixes.
Gull Feroza scored 31 runs off 23 balls. Aliya Riaz added 25 runs off 22 balls. The pair helped Pakistan recover after Bangladesh reduced them to 67 for five.
Umm-e-Hani Leads Bowling Attack
Bangladesh needed 146 runs to win. The team finished at 114 for 7 in 20 overs.
Umm-e-Hani took three wickets for 10 runs in four overs. Fatima Sana, Tasmia Rubab, Nashra Sandhu and Ayesha Zafar took one wicket each.
Sharmin Akhter remained unbeaten on 46 runs from 45 balls. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana scored 25 runs.
Pakistan entered the bronze-medal match after losing to Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the semi-final on September 20. Sri Lanka chased Pakistan’s target of 178 with 13 balls remaining.
The bronze medal adds to Pakistan women’s Asian Games record. The team had won gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 editions.
