Punjab Government Bans Mobile Phones and Enforces Dress Codes in Schools

The Punjab government has introduced strict measures in schools to ensure discipline and improve the learning environment. As part of these changes, mobile phones have been completely banned in government schools across the province.

In an official notification, the School Education Department outlined a 20-point plan aimed at improving the teaching system and maintaining order. District and Tehsil Education Officers, along with school heads, are tasked with ensuring the rules are followed.

One of the key rules is that teachers, students, and even non-teaching staff will now have to hand over their mobile phones to the head teacher during school hours. This step is expected to minimize distractions and focus on education. Additionally, a dress code has been enforced for everyone. Staff must wear dress coats and closed shoes, while students are required to wear their uniforms and navy-blue jerseys. Name badges have also been made mandatory for both teachers and students.

Other notable measures include displaying a timetable board at the school’s main entrance and appointing a class representative for every class. Schools will also display three to four pennants featuring motivational slogans to create a more positive atmosphere.

These steps are part of the government’s effort to ensure schools become more structured and student-focused. By banning mobile phones and introducing these rules, the authorities aim to set a standard for discipline and effective learning.
