A Fly Jinnah flight emergency landing happened at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday evening after fire alarms sounded in the cockpit.
According to a spokesperson from the Civil Airport Authority, the captain of the cargo flight declared a “mayday” at 7:15 PM while nearing Lahore, reporting smoke in the cargo hold. Thankfully, the plane landed safely at 7:23 PM.
The airport’s fire department was ready on-site, swiftly managing the situation. All passengers and crew were evacuated safely using the emergency exits. After a thorough inspection, the fire department cleared the aircraft at 7:57 PM. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Fly Jinnah later issued a statement confirming that flight 9P846 from Karachi to Lahore faced a “smoke alarm” warning in the cargo section. They reassured the public that everyone onboard landed safely and that the technical team was investigating the issue.
Earlier this month, another emergency landing occurred in Karachi when an international flight, G9512, en route from Sharjah to Dhaka, had to land due to the unfortunate death of a 42-year-old passenger midflight.
The aviation sector has seen a few alarming incidents recently, but Fly Jinnah and other airlines continue to take necessary safety measures to ensure passengers’ well-being.
