Get Your Sindh Driving & Motorcycle License: Easy Guide (Fees & Eligibility)

Sindh’s residents, aged 18 and above, are now eligible to apply for a driving license, a crucial document for legally operating vehicles and motorcycles across the province. The Driving License Department, a key division of Sindh Police, is responsible for issuing these licenses in all cities of Sindh, including Karachi.

The license serves as an official permit, authorizing its holder to drive various types of motor vehicles on public roads. In Karachi, the majority of licenses are issued in the car + motorcycle category, reflecting the city’s predominant mode of transportation.

Karachi’s citizens, upon completion of their learner permit’s duration, must secure an online pre-appointment to apply for the car + motorcycle license. This step is mandatory before they can legally hit the road with their vehicles.

Post-pre-appointment token acquisition, the applicant is required to physically present themselves at the concerned driving license branch with their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). Following registration, they must undergo a fitness examination by a medical officer, as stipulated by the Motor Vehicle Ordinance -1965.

The final stage involves the applicant taking theoretical and practical tests. Successful candidates are then issued a permanent driving license.

The fee structure for a car and motorcycle license in Karachi is as follows: A three-year validity license costs Rs1,410, while a five-year license is priced at Rs1,860. Additional fixed charges, including lamination fee, Nadra fee, medical fee, TCS fee, and others, are also applicable.
