Karachi’s Red Bus Services Go Digital with New Payment System

In a recent development, Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Transport Minister of Sindh, unveiled plans to automate two routes of Karachi’s People’s Bus Service. This innovative change set to roll out next month, marking a significant step towards modernizing the city’s public transport.

Addressing a press conference, Memon shared that the same prepaid cards would be functional for the Green Line and Orange Line. This integration aims to streamline the commuting experience for the city’s residents.

The minister expressed optimism about the automated system’s success on the initial two routes, revealing plans to expand it across all routes. This move expected to bring substantial relief to passengers, offering them the convenience of using the same prepaid cards across all public transport.

In addition to this, Memon announced the imminent launch of the People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas, further extending the network’s reach.

Post-Eid-ul-Fitr, Karachi’s citizens can anticipate an increase in the number of buses plying the city’s roads. New buses will introduced on various routes, enhancing the city’s transport capacity. Furthermore, the minister announced the addition of two new routes specifically for electric buses, underscoring the city’s commitment to sustainable transport solutions.
