Karachi: Albino turtle born at Marine Turtle Care Nursery Hawke's Bay
An albino turtle has been born at Marine Turtle Care Nursery Hawke's Bay in Karachi. According to the Conservator Wildlife Department Sindh, the Wildlife Department is preparing a digital record of the Albino Tortoise for the first time since 1970.
Conservator Wildlife Department Javed Mehr said that albinism occurs in animals like humans.
He said that albinism is a genetic condition in which the skin color turns white, and the affected animals are sensitive to sunlight.
He said that turtles live in water, so this turtle has no problem with the sun.
Javed Maher said that the albino turtle has been freed for a new life journey, 8 lakh turtles have been freed since 1970.
He said that till date the wildlife department has not found any albino turtle, according to research, only one turtle in one lakh turtles can be albino.
Albinism is also found in crows, parrots, crocodiles, bears, cats, monkeys, squirrels and other animals, the conservator added.
