The family of Dr Akash has ended its protest at Teen Talwar in Karachi after successful negotiations with Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who assured them of full support in seeking justice and speeding up the investigation into the doctor’s killing.
The protest had been staged at Teen Talwar following the fatal shooting of Dr Akash during an alleged robbery in Karachi’s Clifton area. Family members agreed to suspend the demonstration after the mayor promised to personally meet with the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police and facilitate the investigation.
According to the family, they will decide their future course of action after holding discussions with the Sindh IG. Until then, the protest has been called off.
Following the end of the demonstration, Dr Akash’s body was shifted from the protest site to the Chhipa morgue.
Dr Akash Was Killed During Alleged Robbery in Clifton
Police said Dr Akash was shot dead shortly after withdrawing a large amount of cash from a bank near Teen Talwar in Clifton.
According to investigators, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Frere Police Station. Dr Akash had reportedly withdrawn Rs5 million and was driving away in his Alto car when armed suspects intercepted his vehicle near the bank.
The attackers allegedly robbed him of Rs2.5 million before opening fire. Despite an exchange of gunfire by bank security guards, the suspects managed to flee the scene.
Police Continue Investigation
Sindh Police have launched an investigation into the Dr Akash Karachi robbery and murder case and are working to identify and arrest the suspects involved.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over street crime and public safety in Karachi, with many residents demanding stronger security measures and swift justice for the victim.
