Pakistan has announced a major upgrade in passport services as the government moves to launch a passport home delivery system starting July 1, aimed at improving public convenience and reducing long queues at passport offices across the country.
According to details shared by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, passports will now be delivered directly to applicants’ homes through a secure and monitored courier network, eliminating the need for repeated visits to passport offices.
The initiative is designed to streamline passport delivery, enhance transparency, and ensure faster service delivery for citizens applying for ordinary and urgent passports.
Home Delivery System to Improve Passport Service Efficiency
During a recent visit to various passport offices, the DG Immigration and Passports reviewed operations and met citizens to hear complaints firsthand. He issued strict instructions to officials to resolve public grievances on the spot and improve processing efficiency.
He emphasized that the new system will ensure:
- Direct delivery of passports to applicants’ doorstep
- Reduction in long queues at passport offices
- Faster and more transparent processing
- Improved citizen facilitation and service quality
Officials confirmed that courier companies will be responsible for secure and timely delivery of passports under strict compliance protocols.
Digital Payment Integration with QR Code System
In a parallel reform effort, Pakistan is also upgrading its passport fee payment system to a fully digital model.
The Directorate has been working closely with NADRA to enhance service integration and streamline identity-related processes.
Authorities have approved a QR code-based payment system, allowing citizens to pay passport fees through:
- JazzCash
- Easypaisa
- 1LINK
This move is expected to reduce manual payment processing, minimize delays, and improve accessibility for applicants nationwide.
Government Focus on Digital Transformation
Officials stated that the passport home delivery system and digital payment upgrades are part of broader government efforts to modernize public services and introduce paperless, citizen-friendly systems.
The DG Immigration and Passports also reviewed ongoing administrative reforms, including faster data entry systems and improved workflow management to further reduce processing time.
He reiterated that improving passport services remains a top government priority, and more reforms will be introduced in the coming months.
What Citizens Should Expect from July 1
From the launch date, applicants can expect:
