Pakistan is expected to experience intense heatwave conditions until June 12, with temperatures likely to soar across several regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office has warned that major cities and districts in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan will remain under the influence of extremely hot and dry weather, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
According to the latest weather forecast, Karachi is expected to record temperatures between 40°C and 43°C during the heatwave period. Meanwhile, some districts of Sindh and Balochistan could witness temperatures as high as 48°C to 51°C, making them among the hottest areas in the country.
In Punjab, temperatures are forecast to range from 44°C to 48°C in several districts, while the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience temperatures between 41°C and 46°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when heat intensity is expected to be at its peak.
Health experts recommend staying hydrated, wearing light-colored clothing, and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day. Children, elderly individuals, and people with pre-existing medical conditions are considered most vulnerable to extreme heat and should take extra precautions.
Authorities have urged the public to remain updated with weather advisories as the ongoing heatwave continues to affect large parts of Pakistan.
