Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has delivered a massive relief package to the nation, slashing petrol price in Pakistan today by Rs. 80 per litre. Effective from midnight, the new price drops to Rs. 378 per litre, providing immediate breathing room for citizens facing historic inflation.
The Prime Minister addresses the nation tonight, and the focus is clear: survival for the common man. After global oil prices pushed the local rate to a staggering Rs. 458.40 per litre, the government decided to step in. By reducing the petroleum levy, Sharif has effectively rolled back the recent surge.
The Prime Minister confirmed that railway fares for economy class will remain frozen. For the backbone of our fields, small farmers will receive Rs. 1,500 per acre to keep the agriculture sector afloat.
Provincial Unity for National Relief
The Prime Minister specifically thanked the provincial leadership for their support. Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi, and Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti all contributed resources to make this price cut possible.
The global energy market is currently in turmoil, with regional tensions driving crude prices to record highs. Sharif acknowledged that while resources are tight, the government “will not rest” until life returns to normal for the average Pakistani.
This Rs. 80 reduction stays in effect for the next 30 days. In a world where even the strongest economies are buckling under inflation, this targeted relief aims to protect the most vulnerable segments of Pakistan.
