Passport Office Timings Changed Across Pakistan
The government has revised the working hours of passport offices across Pakistan as part of national austerity measures and a fuel-saving policy. The new schedule for the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports has been officially issued and will be implemented nationwide.
According to the updated notification, passport offices will now operate four days a week, from Monday to Thursday, while remaining closed from Friday to Sunday.
Four-Day Work Week Introduced
The change has been introduced in line with the government’s broader efforts to reduce fuel consumption and cut operational costs. Officials say the revised schedule will help limit commuting and reduce energy use in government offices.
The circular states that the new timings will apply to passport offices across the country following approval from the Director General of Immigration and Passports.
24-Hour Passport Offices to Continue Operations
Despite the revised schedule, regional passport offices that operate 24 hours a day will continue to provide services without interruption. These facilities will maintain their existing operations to ensure that citizens can still access urgent passport services.
Swift Service Centres Unaffected
The government also clarified that the shift system at Swift Service Centres will remain unchanged. These centres will continue functioning according to their existing schedules to ensure routine passport processing remains smooth.
Officials said the adjustments aim to balance public service delivery with the government’s energy conservation goals.
The revised passport office timings have now come into effect across Pakistan, and citizens are advised to plan their visits accordingly.
