Pakistan is celebrating Christmas 2025 together with the birth anniversary of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Special actions have been taken by the government to make sure that the holiday season is peaceful and inclusive to all citizens.
Official Holiday Notification 2025
The official holiday schedule was given by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan. The 25th of December, 2025, is a national holiday. This is a two-in-one festive occasion that is the celebration of both Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day.
Key highlights of the 2025 notification include:
- December 25: All government and all private sector public holiday.
- December 26: Another optional holiday in the Christian community to carry on with celebrations.
- Banking Sector: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) ensured that every bank will be closed on December 25.
The Punjab government this year created history by introducing a 12 day Christmas festival. Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister, organized a huge Christmas Interfaith Harmony Rally at Lahore which extended to the Sacred Heart Cathedral up to Liberty Roundabout.
The big cities such as Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore are decorated with lights and enormous Christmas trees. Shopping malls and markets are taking special events and this indicates an increasing understanding of religious tolerance.
The ministry of interior has also deployed more than 300,000 police officers in the country to guarantee safety. In over 2,900 churches, law enforcement agencies are offering fool proof security. CCTV surveillance, walkthrough gates and snipers are some of the security measures that security teams are employing to ensure that the worshippers are safe.
