The Sindh School Education Department has announced a 25% reduction in the syllabus for matriculation and intermediate exams scheduled for 2025. A notification released on Monday confirmed that the exams will now be based on 75% of the syllabus.
The decision was made by the Directorate of Curriculum Assessment and Research under the Sindh Education Department.
Revised Curriculum Plan
Students in grades 9 to 12 from all groups—including Science, Humanities, Commerce, General Group, Pre-Medical, and Pre-Engineering—will only be tested on 75% of their syllabus.
Academic Schedule Adjustment
- Schools must complete at least 50% of the syllabus for all subjects before the winter holidays.
- After the winter break, 50% of the remaining syllabus will be taught.
- By the end of the 2024/25 academic year, students will have completed 75% of the syllabus, which will serve as the basis for the exams.
New Academic Calendar for 2025
The change follows a decision by the steering committee’s sub-committee on November 28.
- The 2025/26 academic session will begin on April 1 instead of August 1.
- Matric exams will start on March 15, 2025.
- Intermediate exams will begin on April 15, 2025.
This adjustment aims to align the curriculum with the revised academic calendar while ensuring students are well-prepared for their exams.
