In light of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, the administration of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has announced the closure of wedding halls, cafes, and restaurants from October 14 to October 16, 2024. This decision coincides with a public holiday declared in both cities to ensure security and smooth operations during the high-profile international event.
The local government has implemented strict security measures, with law enforcement agencies on high alert. Police authorities have warned business owners that failure to comply with the closure orders will result in legal action. In a bid to ensure compliance, SHOs are requiring surety bonds from business owners, including traders and hotel operators.
To further bolster security, the government has deployed additional personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), and Punjab Police. A comprehensive security plan has been devised to safeguard the participants and ensure the successful hosting of the SCO Summit.
In addition to the closure of businesses, schools, colleges, and government offices will also remain closed from October 14 to 16, 2024, during the local holiday period.
This move highlights the importance of the SCO Summit and the government’s efforts to maintain peace and order in the twin cities during the event.
For any further updates regarding the closures, businesses and the public are advised to stay informed through official channels.
