Islamabad’s Red Zone Sealed Off: Public Entry Banned!

Islamabad has geared up for the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government Summit, and to ensure everything runs smoothly, entry into the city’s Red Zone has been restricted for the public since today. This step is meant to ensure the event goes off without any problems.

Now, when we talk about the Red Zone, it’s that key area where all the major government offices are located. The Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Frontier Corps (FC) have been tasked with securing the Convention Centre and Parliament House, which are pretty important spots for the summit. But that’s not all—they’ve got a tight grip on almost everything around there.

The summit’s going to be held at the Jinnah Convention Center, but it’s not just that place being secured. The whole of Constitution Avenue, the Diplomatic Enclave, and important spots like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Supreme Court, and High Court are under serious protection. They’re even guarding places like NADRA, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Election Commission, and the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission HQ.

To make it even more secure, hotels in the area, especially those on Agha Khan Road and Khayaban-e-Suharwardy, have been taken under heavy protection too. These five-star hotels are where the key foreign delegates are likely staying, so security is tight.

It’s not just the visible security, though. Both military and civilian intelligence agencies are involved in making sure everything is safe and sound. Islamabad has turned into a high-security zone for this major international event.

The focus right now is to keep the summit safe, organized, and incident-free, and with all these layers of protection, it looks like the government is leaving no stone unturned.
