The Sir Syed Express, a new passenger train service connecting Rawalpindi to Karachi, inaugurated today, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s railway history. The train, with its first departure from Rawalpindi, expected to reach Karachi within 24 hours, offering passengers a blend of comfort and convenience.
The inauguration ceremony was led by DS Railway, Nooruddin Dawar, who emphasized the importance of the Sir Syed Express in enhancing connectivity between major cities. The train, consisting of 16 coaches, will pass through key stations including Jhelum, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Sangla Hill, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Rohri, and Hyderabad before arriving in Karachi.
Operated under a public-private partnership model, the Sir Syed Express promises an upgraded travel experience. With one AC sleeper, three AC business, and one AC standard coach, along with eight economy coaches and a dining car, the train caters to a diverse range of passengers. A private company is responsible for the onboard food services, ensuring a pleasant journey for all. Special attention given to water supply and cleanliness, reflecting the commitment to passenger satisfaction.
In addition to these amenities, passengers can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout their journey, and tickets are easily accessible online via mobile applications. The Sir Syed Express projected to generate an annual revenue of around 3 billion rupees for Pakistan Railways, making it a vital addition to the nation’s transport infrastructure.
