11 Coal Miners Die of Suffocation in Sanjdi, Balochistan
A tragic accident claimed the lives of 11 coal miners in Sanjdi, Balochistan, on Monday due to a gas leak deep inside a coal mine.
Chief Mines Inspector Abdul Ghani Baloch confirmed the incident, stating that the gas leak caused the miners to suffocate. Among the deceased were nine miners, a contractor, and a mine manager. All the victims were from Swat.
The miners were working approximately 1,500 feet (450 meters) underground when the accident occurred. Rescue teams worked tirelessly for several hours to retrieve their bodies. The authorities have ordered an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident and investigate any potential negligence.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls. The prime minister assured the affected families that they are in the nation’s thoughts during this difficult time.
Funeral prayers will be held before the bodies of the victims are sent to their hometown in Swat.
