Apple says it is manufacturing its iPhone 14 in India instead of China to change its supply chain.

The company makes most of its phones in China but is now moving its production out of the country as tensions between the US and China escalate.

China's lack of solid policies for Covid during the global pandemic led to a massive lockdown in the country and massive disruption of business activities.

It should be remembered that the big technology company Apple has launched the iPhone 14 earlier this month.

The new iPhone 14 introduces new advanced technology and security features.  "We are excited to manufacture iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement.

The Taiwanese company 'Focus Kan', which makes most of the iPhones, is also operating in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where most of the older iPhone models are manufactured.

But now Apple has taken a big step to manufacture its latest iPhone 14 in India.

By doing this production in India, the appellant company wants to establish its foothold there.  Apple's market share in India was 4 percent last year.

The US company is still struggling to compete in India with cheap mobile smartphones from China and South Korea, which still have a monopoly in India.

But the fact that the phone is made in India does not necessarily mean that these iPhones will be available cheaply in India.  This is due to the high import duties and taxes incurred on the phone parts.

Although Indian citizens will get to see the 'Made in India' tag on iPhones, they will have to pay a hefty price to get it.

The announcement of iPhone production in India is being seen as a success for the Narendra Modi administration.

His government had launched a flagship program called 'Make in India' eight years ago, aimed at boosting manufacturing and exports in the country.

On the other hand, Apple's announcement is the latest move to avoid disruptions in its supply in the context of tensions between China and the United States over Taiwan and trade.
