Audio leaks on social media: Pakistan's cyber security under discussion once again

The audio leak scandal

A few audios have gone viral on Pakistan's social media in which Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Muslim League (N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and members of the federal cabinet of Muslim League (N) were allegedly heard discussing various issues.  can go.

So far, no official response has come from the federal government or the Muslim League-N on this alleged audio leak scandal.  When BBC contacted Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal to know the government's stand, he said that he has not heard the audio so far and he can give a response only after hearing it.

Due to the government's silence on the matter, it cannot be confirmed whether these audio tapes are authentic or not.  However, many important questions are being raised on social media, the main point of which is the cyber security of important government offices and posts in Pakistan.

On the other hand, even before the government's response came out from the side of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the demand for a regular judicial inquiry on this matter has also come out.

The important thing is that on the one hand, where the conversation taking place in the alleged audio is the subject of discussion, the question is raised as to who recorded this conversation?  How was it recorded and how did it get online?  The important questions related to this are that how strong or weak is Pakistan's cyber security in this whole matter?

But it should be clear that the alleged audios of conversations of many important personalities have been leaked in Pakistan in the past, but most of them were phone conversations.

 The audio leak scandal

In one of the alleged audios heard by the BBC, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar and  Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal's voice can be recognized.  In this conversation, the resignations of PTI are being discussed.

However, when BBC contacted Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, he said that he has not heard the audio yet, so he cannot say anything about it.

Pakistan Muslim League leader Ayaz Sadiq while talking to BBC expressed his ignorance regarding these audio leaks but he said that fortunately I do not give much importance to audio video leaks because whatever I talk about.  It has a basis.  In response to this question, do they think this security has been breached?  He said that everyone knows that security breaches happen, we don't know who does it, but whatever we talk about is not a secret and everyone knows it.

Due to the government's silence, there are few facts and answers on this issue at the moment, and an endless series of questions.
